D-Lish Scraps April Challenge.

So Im on a roll lately with my scrapbooking, and challenge entries. I'm really loving the inspiration and how my pages are turning out.

This was a mood board challenge, I just loved the gold feathers and that raspberry colour. I'm a Stampin' Up demo, and I interpreted that as rich razzleberry, so that is what I used.
When I saw this mood board I knew I wanted to use a recent pic I had of myself. This board was very feminine  to me, and having 2 boys, well 3 if you include the hubby, I don't often scrap in these colours, and I thought it was time I added a pic of myself to my album this year. I wanted to use my feather dies and cut some out of gold glitter paper. I saw that much, the rest of the layout came together as I went.

The backround is my favourite. I misted a Kaiser stencil I have, but I focused the mist on the centre so the colour got lighter as it sprayed out. I like that it gives it a look of matting the photo.
I love the gold, but I also wanted to add a touch of the razzelberry. So I added splatters first, then decided to colour the wood veneer butterflies as well. It gives it just enough colour.

Scrap the Boys april Challenge

I am really enjoying this months challenges I have found so far. Having 2 boys, I love the scrap the boys challenge a lot. I can always find inspiration there.
This month was a mood board challenge.
This mood board made me think of the beach, and I had the most perfect picture in mind.
When I saw this mood board this pattern paper came to mind. I really wanted to use it, but I didn't want to alter it too much or distract from it. It was too perfect. So I decided to layer embellishments, definantly a lot more then I normally do, but like I said I didn't want to take too much away from the water look of the paper, and I wasn't really sure what else to add. So this is what I ended up with.

Hoppy Easter....

Yes , I was that corny. I did In fact say hoppy easter just now- I even put it as the title on my easter project life layout :)

For some reason every time I do a celebration layout, a birthday or Xmas etc, I never like the way it turns out. Still haven't figured out what goes wrong hahaha, but I'm happy with this.
I did this layout for the Jot magazine mood board.

This mood board made me thing of Easter. So that's where I went with my layout. No navy but lots of pink and green and florals. Thanks for looking.

Bittersweet.... Scrap the tough stuff too.

So I really struggled with this layout. As in it took me 4 days to do it. Not physically but emotionally.
I knew I wanted to use this grey paper with a pop of pink as the base- really wanted to focus on the colour over the grey.
I even had my multimedia back round finished before I had my photo picked. I really struggled with picking the picture. That alone took me 2 days. I wasn't sure if I wanted to put it in the album, if I wanted to remember that moment. But I figured there was no other photo I would want in its place. I even tried a few alternitives. But in the end it worked.

Once I had my pic the whole layout came together pretty quickly.
The backround took the longest, with the paint smears, the modelling paste and the inking. But I was happy with it in te end. With such a busy backround with lots of colour I chose to keep the embellishments to a minimum to focus on te photo. I didn't want to overload the layout.

This was a big lesson for me in documenting everything. Even the tough moments. This is the last photo I have with my beautiful mum and i wanted to document that. That moment, that love.
I will never forget that moment- exactly what I was thinking as I was looking at her.

Babies babies and more babies :)

It seems everyone is either pregnant or just had a baby. Must be somethin in the water.
Personally, 2 close friends just popped out little ones within days of one another- one boy one girl :) so I have been making baby cards- and loving it I might add lol.
This one went down with an adorable little out fit for miss Charlotte. I have boys so I don't get to use much pink, so I loved making this.
This one was more in my comfort zone- for little master Lucas :)
This one included an adorable set of overalls lol and some advice about being in a house of boys from personal experience - "there will be mud, there will be blood and there will be mischief. Go with the flow and learn to laugh it off lol."

And my fave to finish it off. Another friend is expecting, so I made this clean and simple baby bump card- I just love it :)

Crafting for a cause...

So I saw a post the other day about an organisation that makes pamper bags for mums with kids on the spectrum. They were looking for people that made cards- hoping to get a few donations of cards for these bags.
Being a parent to 2 boys on the spectrum I really loved this idea. It was perfect for me because I love making cards but find I have nothin to do with them once I make them. I have lots of fab stamps sets I like to try out. I send cards to the Cards for Troops organisation at Xmas and Mother's Day for the same reason.
I sent a message and signed up. I'm happy that my cards are going to a good cause. And one I have personal experience in.
So that is what I have been doing for the past few days. And so far, this is my fave card. It's using the Stampin Up! Lotus flower set- fantastic!
I actually made the backround when I was testing out the stamp set and trialing out colour combos. It looked so cute I couldn't waste it so I turned it into a card. And I love it.

Using my stamps

So I love using my stamps- I have a nice collection of Stampin Up stamps that I just love using.
So today being my sisters birthday is just another excuse to get them out lol.
I saw this technique I have been wanting to try "triple stamping".
Well I don't like the amount of layers so I only did 2 for my card- but I still like the technique.
Very happy with how it turned out. The new lotus stamp is just fabulous too.
